Slilas

While I was in Georgia a few weeks ago, I pointed to Talon and asked Findlay what his name was.
"I already have a baby... baby Ludie Ella"
"I know about your baby but what about this baby?"
"Slilas" -said with a lisp

Well here are a few pictures of "Slilas" so everybody can tell who is who!

Oh how I miss this kid!

Camping

Last weekend we went camping with Mom and Dad. They have a little camper that could have fit all of us but since I have to get up in the middle of the night with Talon... they chose to sleep in a tent. It would have been a VERY tight squeeze if they had not!

We got the camper because we needed electricity for the nebulizer. We had dinner together, played scrabble, talked etc. The next day we headed to the Great Strides walk. After the walk we went back to the campsite and hung out for awhile before heading home!

Ludie Loo

My beautiful niece Ludie Ella Griggs!!!! I got to go see her this past weekend and she is wonderful. Can't wait to live near my favorite baby girl.

Dad, Bowling and Kanban

For Dads 55th birthday we went to Main Event and played arcade games and bowled. We had so much fun!!! After bowling we went to our favorite hamburger joint (if that didnt sound like Nancy I don't know what would). We had cake later that night with the Carrigans! I made a Kanban board cake for Dad. It is the new big thing in being LEAN and efficient! Sadly we did not take enough pictures at all!!!!

Five candles for 5 and 5 = 55

Lets just say I did not have a lot of time!!!!!

Real Kanban board although Dads personal board looks like the one on the cake

Paintball Cake

Hannah had her birthday about a week ago and I made her birthday cake! They played paintball that morning so I made her a paintball cake... notice she didn't get hit!!!!! The pictures are really dark so you can't see the bottom tier very well. I hand painted camouflage.

One paintball didn't splatter!

Sad

I just found out this morning that I can't do in vitro. I am heartbroken.

PREIMPLANTATION GENETIC DIAGNOSIS (PGD)
Preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) is an alternative to prenatal diagnosis for people at risk of passing on an inherited disease to their children. The main benefit of PGD is that it maximizes the chance that a couple will have an unaffected pregnancy, greatly reducing the possibility that they will have to contemplate pregnancy termination. This is achieved by analyzing embryos before they have implanted in the womb, in other words before pregnancy has begun. PGD usually requires that the couple undergoes in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment. This involves hormonal treatments that allow the collection of multiple eggs from the mother. The eggs are then fertilized using the father’s sperm and the resulting embryos are transferred to an incubator. After three days the embryos usually consist of a tiny ball of eight cells, known as blastomeres. One embryo cell (blastomere) is then removed (biopsied) from each embryo and subjected to genetic testing. If a blastomere is found to be unaffected by the inherited disease then the embryo that it was removed from will also be unaffected. Embryos that are revealed to be healthy can be transferred to the womb, ultimately producing unaffected babies.
At this time, IRMS offers PGD primarily for three specific single gene disorders – cystic fibrosis, Tay Sachs disease and myotonic dystrophy.

Trip to Georgia

I went to Georgia for three weeks to be there for my sisters birth....well not her birth but her fourth child's birth! Unfortunately, as luck would have it, she had the baby two days after I left. I am very disappointed that I missed the birth. This was the first Griggs birth that I have missed and I feel disconnected and on the outside of the bubble and not even getting a good look in. I know that this sounds dramatic to most people but I know that at least you understand Noel!

Although I missed out on the main event I still had a wonderful time in Georgia. It makes me miss everybody so much. It would probably be easier to not visit just so I won't be reminded of what I am missing out on. Then again, if I were in Georgia I would not get to see my parents all the time and that has been a huge blessing. Commune anyone? Anyone?

While in Georgia I threw Nellie a baby shower. The theme was birds and flowers. We has a coffee bar with six different types of coffee, five creamers, five toppings and Jen made biscotti to top it off! I did an ABC shower where each person brings something that starts with their assigned letter of the alphabet. It was great!

I have been watching a lot of Cake Boss during morning and evening meds and like every good amateur... I was confident that I could make a good looking cake. Somehow, by the grace of the Lord, it actually turned out fairly cute!
