Thoughts on Thankful

I love that November brings about a thankful attitude in people. Every day I see a couple hundred things that people are thankful for streaming across my newsfeed... this got me thinking. I am thankful. I talk about the things that I am grateful for every day... November or not. Here's the part where we have it a little "wrong." It is so easy to be thankful for the good things in our lives. I love my home. Thankful. I adore my family. Thankful. My son has cystic fibrosis. Than... say what?!!!

I believe that we need to be thankful for EVERYTHING that the Lord gives us. Am I happy that my son has CF? Absolutely not. It breaks my heart every single day. Happiness and thankfulness are not the same thing. We will never know why things are the way they are... one kid has a genetic illness and another doesn't... but we do have a choice as to what filter we will use when viewing things. Today I choose to be thankful for CF: the hardest, most hurtful, scariest, and exhausting thing in my life.
