King of the Hill
The other day I was driving to work. Mind you it takes me over an hour to get to work and 95% of the trip is through the country. As I was passing a very familiar pasture where there are plenty of cows I saw one cow higher than the others. As I drew nearer I saw that there was an orange hill surrounded by beautiful green grass. This was not the odd part.... there was one solitary cow at the very top of the little hill and all of the other cows were making futile attempts to reach the top. I truly believe this is why the hill has no grass... all of the hooves scraping and clawing to get to the top. Who knew that a cow could have a seniority complex!

My Three States of Illness
On Monday of last week I started to get a sore throat and a headache. That continued until Wednesday and then I felt horrible and called in sick to work. On Thursday I talked to my doctor and was diagnosed with the flu. I had trouble breathing that night while trying to sleep so I went to the ER on Friday morning where they told me that I had bronchitis! I suffered through the day feeling wretched and then ended up back in the ER all night on Friday night because I couldn't breathe again. They took a chest X-ray and said that I have pneumonia. There you go folks....

Throw a little morning sickness on top and we are good to go!

Cottage Unworks
So.... I would put up pictures of the progress on the cottage but there hasn't been any! In fact, we are now going to tear out all of the window jacks and respace them (cut new wood, redo the studs etc.) for windows that are a different size than originally planned. This has already set us back a few weeks and will probably set us back a few more. I will give another update on the cottage when there is something to report... over and out!

My Birthday
On Saturday we went sailing for my birthday. We had so much fun!!! Everything was going really well until we decided to head back to the car. The idea was to make the boat turn 90 degrees to the left. Instead, we spun in a 360... the opposite direction! Once we were back facing our original direction we attempted the same feat as before and lo and behold... it happened again... and again and again and again and again. Summer and I were laughing but Doug definitely was not. We lowered the sails and use the microscopic engine to snail us back. Sailing... snailing... almost the same thing right?

Cottage Works
Doug and I have been working on the cottage the last few days. It is finally coming along. The first day that we worked I was just following Doug around doing absolutely nothing for about thirty minutes. He would ask me to hand him a hammer every once in a while but that was it. After I made repeated jokes about what a good assistant I was... Just call me Al... he finally told me that if I wanted something to do I could put the studs in above the headers. We had so much fun. We hope to really be done with the framing tomorrow! Next comes the roof and then siding....yay!!!

#53 The Case of the Lethargic Girl
The plot is about a girl who is tired, worn out, pooped, exhausted, all in, beat, broken-down, haggard, burned out, collapsing, dead on one's feet, sleepy, done for, done in, wasted, drained, drooping, droopy, spent, drowsy, fagged, flagging, dog tired, narcoleptic, overtaxed, consumed, overworked, petered out, played out, prostrated, run-down, fatigued, tuckered out, weary, taxed, strained, wearing out, and wilting.
Okay so maybe just tired a bit lately!

Mountain Biking?
We attempted to go mountain biking on Sunday after church although things did not go quite as planned!
-Summer forgot to get her clothes and then didn't have time to find any so she wore normal clothes. She also forgot to get her shoes so she had to wear regular shoes that were too big.
-Morgan had only ridden once
-Everyone forgot water except for me and Doug
-We had a time restriction due to Fins birthday party
-Jon told us to go to Heritage because was "marked way better" that Fort Yargo
When we got to the trailhead we looked at the map, filled the (minimal) water containers and headed out! The first thing we hit was a huge hill and both Summer ate it. At the bottom there was a fork in the trail and, suprisingly enough, it was not marked at all! We went three different ways and then just kept going. The trail was pretty tough for beginners and so soon we realized that we would have to turn around. We came across a woman who told us we were going backwards on the trail and that is why it was more difficult.
At this point we all tried out the meager supply of water which ended up being useless because the water had so much metal in it you could barely gag it down... I gave up!
When we got back to where we started we still couldnt find the right trail so we chose to go on the baby trail because we were running out of time. We were told it was 2-3 miles long and a "fun little trail."
It was a great little trail and when I say little I mean like 1/2 a mile type of little trail. We went once and then the boys went to find something a little more challenging. Summer, Morgan and I went on the "Boy Scout" trail several more times and had a great time. It was actually a great trail for Morgan to practice on.
All in all... a great time but definitely not a mountain bike ride!
