Cottage Works
Doug and I have been working on the cottage the last few days. It is finally coming along. The first day that we worked I was just following Doug around doing absolutely nothing for about thirty minutes. He would ask me to hand him a hammer every once in a while but that was it. After I made repeated jokes about what a good assistant I was... Just call me Al... he finally told me that if I wanted something to do I could put the studs in above the headers. We had so much fun. We hope to really be done with the framing tomorrow! Next comes the roof and then siding....yay!!!

#53 The Case of the Lethargic Girl
The plot is about a girl who is tired, worn out, pooped, exhausted, all in, beat, broken-down, haggard, burned out, collapsing, dead on one's feet, sleepy, done for, done in, wasted, drained, drooping, droopy, spent, drowsy, fagged, flagging, dog tired, narcoleptic, overtaxed, consumed, overworked, petered out, played out, prostrated, run-down, fatigued, tuckered out, weary, taxed, strained, wearing out, and wilting.
Okay so maybe just tired a bit lately!

Mountain Biking?
We attempted to go mountain biking on Sunday after church although things did not go quite as planned!
-Summer forgot to get her clothes and then didn't have time to find any so she wore normal clothes. She also forgot to get her shoes so she had to wear regular shoes that were too big.
-Morgan had only ridden once
-Everyone forgot water except for me and Doug
-We had a time restriction due to Fins birthday party
-Jon told us to go to Heritage because was "marked way better" that Fort Yargo
When we got to the trailhead we looked at the map, filled the (minimal) water containers and headed out! The first thing we hit was a huge hill and both Summer ate it. At the bottom there was a fork in the trail and, suprisingly enough, it was not marked at all! We went three different ways and then just kept going. The trail was pretty tough for beginners and so soon we realized that we would have to turn around. We came across a woman who told us we were going backwards on the trail and that is why it was more difficult.
At this point we all tried out the meager supply of water which ended up being useless because the water had so much metal in it you could barely gag it down... I gave up!
When we got back to where we started we still couldnt find the right trail so we chose to go on the baby trail because we were running out of time. We were told it was 2-3 miles long and a "fun little trail."
It was a great little trail and when I say little I mean like 1/2 a mile type of little trail. We went once and then the boys went to find something a little more challenging. Summer, Morgan and I went on the "Boy Scout" trail several more times and had a great time. It was actually a great trail for Morgan to practice on.
All in all... a great time but definitely not a mountain bike ride!

North Carolina
Last weekend Doug and I went up to the cabin and did...nothing. The whole weekend was amazing and very beautiful. There is really not much to tell...Doug played his guitar, Dad played on the computer and Mom and I chilled out and talked. We also primed the steps going up to the loft. Here are some before and after pictures although I did not get a picture before I had ripped up the shag carpet that was stapled to each step!

Epiphany
I had two life changing epiphanies yesterday!
1.) People drink hot drinks (hot chocolate, cider, coffee) in the winter to warm up and cold drinks (icee, slush, ice cream, milkshake) during to summer to cool down.
Why are we trying to defy nature? When it is cold outside we frantically try to slurp down the hot drink so that it does not get cold and when it is hot we eat our ice cream as fast as we can before it melts. I propose that we reverse the trend and go with the flow rather that against it! Yesterday I had a cup of coffee while it was ninety degrees out. I set the cup on the top of my car and talked to my uncle for an hour. Lo and behold, when I returned my coffee was still hot! Ahh, although not cooling, VERY refreshing!!!

2.) Workout.... ever wonder where the term came from? Yesterday I put 1500 screws into the building (by myself...mwaahahaha hahhahahahahha...okay back to the epiphany). Later I was thinking that I should have worked out while I was still gross from ...... working outside ...... are you picking up what I am laying down? Okay I will explain!
Once upon a time there was a small family of country folk. They were healthy and fit. Although they worked very hard the family farm was not able to provide enough for the whole family. They moved to the city to find work. Once settled they realized that, although they had enough money, they were not as healthy or fit as they once were.
"Honey I miss working outside."
"Maybe we can pretend that we are working outside."
"How can we do that?"
"We can grab some bricks from the building next door and pick them up over and over again. We could shorten working outside to workout because it is a cheap excuse for the real thing!"

There you have it my friends... a glimpse into my thought processess for a day!
