Dad, Bowling and Kanban
For Dads 55th birthday we went to Main Event and played arcade games and bowled. We had so much fun!!! After bowling we went to our favorite hamburger joint (if that didnt sound like Nancy I don't know what would). We had cake later that night with the Carrigans! I made a Kanban board cake for Dad. It is the new big thing in being LEAN and efficient! Sadly we did not take enough pictures at all!!!!
Five candles for 5 and 5 = 55
Lets just say I did not have a lot of time!!!!!
Real Kanban board although Dads personal board looks like the one on the cake

Paintball Cake
Hannah had her birthday about a week ago and I made her birthday cake! They played paintball that morning so I made her a paintball cake... notice she didn't get hit!!!!! The pictures are really dark so you can't see the bottom tier very well. I hand painted camouflage.

One paintball didn't splatter!

Sad
I just found out this morning that I can't do in vitro. I am heartbroken.
PREIMPLANTATION GENETIC DIAGNOSIS (PGD)
Preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) is an alternative to prenatal diagnosis for people at risk of passing on an inherited disease to their children. The main benefit of PGD is that it maximizes the chance that a couple will have an unaffected pregnancy, greatly reducing the possibility that they will have to contemplate pregnancy termination. This is achieved by analyzing embryos before they have implanted in the womb, in other words before pregnancy has begun. PGD usually requires that the couple undergoes in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment. This involves hormonal treatments that allow the collection of multiple eggs from the mother. The eggs are then fertilized using the father’s sperm and the resulting embryos are transferred to an incubator. After three days the embryos usually consist of a tiny ball of eight cells, known as blastomeres. One embryo cell (blastomere) is then removed (biopsied) from each embryo and subjected to genetic testing. If a blastomere is found to be unaffected by the inherited disease then the embryo that it was removed from will also be unaffected. Embryos that are revealed to be healthy can be transferred to the womb, ultimately producing unaffected babies.
At this time, IRMS offers PGD primarily for three specific single gene disorders – cystic fibrosis, Tay Sachs disease and myotonic dystrophy.

Trip to Georgia
I went to Georgia for three weeks to be there for my sisters birth....well not her birth but her fourth child's birth! Unfortunately, as luck would have it, she had the baby two days after I left. I am very disappointed that I missed the birth. This was the first Griggs birth that I have missed and I feel disconnected and on the outside of the bubble and not even getting a good look in. I know that this sounds dramatic to most people but I know that at least you understand Noel!
Although I missed out on the main event I still had a wonderful time in Georgia. It makes me miss everybody so much. It would probably be easier to not visit just so I won't be reminded of what I am missing out on. Then again, if I were in Georgia I would not get to see my parents all the time and that has been a huge blessing. Commune anyone? Anyone?
While in Georgia I threw Nellie a baby shower. The theme was birds and flowers. We has a coffee bar with six different types of coffee, five creamers, five toppings and Jen made biscotti to top it off! I did an ABC shower where each person brings something that starts with their assigned letter of the alphabet. It was great!
I have been watching a lot of Cake Boss during morning and evening meds and like every good amateur... I was confident that I could make a good looking cake. Somehow, by the grace of the Lord, it actually turned out fairly cute!

4th of July
For the 4th of July we went to a festival that Sarah was performing at. We had a great time and then went back to their house to eat dinner. When we were almost home I voiced to Doug that I was a little disappointed that we didn't have fireworks this year. When we pulled into the cul-de-sac some kids had snuck into the neighborhood and set off fireworks right next to the house right as we got out of the car. It was awesome!
"Swimming" in Washington
Noelle stole all of her kids' floating devices and "chilled" out in the deep end! When Jon told her we had to leave she used just her hands to paddle her way to the edge of the pool. The things you get away with when you're pregnant!

Fathers Day Date
We had to celebrate Fathers day a little late because I was still in Georgia on the real day but it was great. We are adjusting to being parents as this was our first date with me bouncing a baby the entire time! We had a great time despite the added excitement.
This is where a picture of me at dinner should be but Doug did not notice that Talon was pulling my shirt to a fairly indecent depth!
Heels.... never again!!!

Another
You might think that I am crazy but my first born child is one month old (add a few days) and I really want another one!!!!!
I am not even just being all cutesy and saying how much I love babies etc. I really would love to be pregnant within the next few months. I think that if I had another baby right now I would be overwhelmed but if I was pregnant I would have nine months until the next one was here. That is a long time my friends and everybody waits until they are ready for another one and then they start trying and then after the time period of trying you still have nine months to wait for the precious little package to arrive.
For all of you who are reading this and thinking that I am insane... I do know all about being tired already and then having the pregnancy fatigue taking over as well and all the logical reasons why one should wait. My midwife said to get pregnant whenever I feel like it and not worry about waiting! Truth be told, I know that God designed our bodies to have a natural birth control (breast feeding) and that there is a healing time that God designed for us.
I believe that God has everything in His plans and that we will get pregnant when He desires us to be pregnant again so I am not going to worry about it but I thought I would share my little longing for more!

My Life is Not My Own
I keep thinking that I need to post on here but then I can't seem to come up with anything to write about. Everything that happens right now has to do with Talon and goes on his blog. I don't really have my own thoughts and the time being because Talon is the main attraction of everything that is exciting!
I am tired. Talon keeps me up a lot during the night. Last night I woke up with a start wondering where the baby was and he was in his Moses basket. I don't remember putting him back after I nursed him. I guess that is a bad thing and I need to get some more sleep but I never seem to get anything done. I am thoroughly enjoying my kid though so that definitely makes up for it!!!
