Hugs and...

Today has been a fantastic day. All peace and bliss... just a pleasant day at work. As the day progressed the thought occurred to me that I would hate for anything to mess up this glorious day.

When Sharon brought in the rest of the Valentines decorations my bliss was shattered. Ever since she arrived I have had one hundred tiny voices screaming at me from just a measly three feet away. Now if your first thought is that at the very least this is distracting, you could not be more correct in your assumptions.

How to ignore the bleating from the bowl on the counter? I have no answer my friends for my will power has failed seven times already and I am not sure that I am as strong of a person as I once thought... as in less than an hour ago.

I am determined that I will not be overtaken by the shiny, beautifully wrapped, decadent little morsel mob again for the rest of the day....week....month....

Sweet Slumber

Yesterday I rode to class with Doug so that afterward we could go see his dad in the hospital at MCG. I had to get up at 6:10 and was determined to go back to sleep as soon as we got to the school parking lot. Only problem was that the temperature was 14 degrees when we left!

My solution to the problem... bring our whole duvet with down comforter insert. I figured that even if it was freezing outside that, without wind, I would be warm enough. I also wore two jackets, a scarf, one glove (couldnt find the other one), jeans, knee high thermal socks and decided not to take off my shoes.

As I nestled down with all of my gear in preparation to sleep, a beautiful lullaby began to play to softly rocking me into blissful sleep. It went something like this.... thud thud thud...thud thud thud!

Someone parked near my spot and had rap music playing extremely loud with the base all the way. After several minutes the guy must have gone into class (late as it was 8:10) and I was left alone again. A few more minutes passed and I realized that I could not sleep because I was too warm.....WHAT?!

Okay... so I did have a lot of clothing on but come on... it was freeeeeeezzzzing outside. Off came the overcoat and scarf and I settled back down. After another few minutes my foot started to fall asleep so I switched sides and repositioned. As soon as I was dozing off again the baby decided to start doing belly flops and supermans. Great!

I did eventually fall asleep and slept very soundly. Surprisingly I had to take off all of my excess clothing because I was so warm even though it was so cold. Guess we made a good purchase in that bedding... or maybe the Lord made the car warm for me!!!

The Lords Blessing part 2

So I just found out that we are receiving Pell Grant again this quarter! Isn't it funny how the Lord works. I wrote that post this morning giving praise to God for a good day and now I can praise the Lord for a fantastic day!!! We will now be able to go to Texas for the birth! No hospitals for me!!!

The Lords Blessings

The problem that we, as Christians, have is that we expect the Lord to give us all the great things that we can think of and then we are disappointed when things don't go as planned. The Lord promises His blessings...not ours!

Our expectations of the Lord are not grounded in the Word.

We have a scale from -10 to 10... -10 being the worst day possible and 10 being the best day possible. We expect our day to be at 0 or better known as a "normal" day. If anything bad happens we dub the day a bad one ie. can't find a parking space for 5 minutes. Unless something out of the ordinary that is good happens we think of the day as a normal day. Why do we think that we deserve a "normal" day? The truth is we don't!

If we placed our expectations below the line (-1 or -2) then when we have a routine day at the office we would see it as a blessing! How much more would we enjoy life if a routine day was viewed as a great day?

When did we decide that we deserve for everything to go perfectly everyday? When did we decide that we know what a perfect day is? When did we decide that we know what is best for our lives long-term?

Who gave us the right to tell the Lord what His blessing should be?

The Way We Think

Reasons not to get out of bed:
1. Grandpa is not doing well
2. Pop is not doing well
3. Does not feel like Christmas
4. Old phone is broken/new one does not have phone numbers
5. Call at 12:30pm saying you have to work the next day
6. Having to cancel breakfast plans the second week in a row
7. Finding out you have to work 6 days this week just like last week
8. So tired

Reasons to get out of bed:
1. Praying for a miracle for Grandpa
2. Pray that whatever is wrong with Pop can be easily fixed
3. Christmas is not about me but about worshipping the Lord
4. Having a phone in the first place
5. Getting to switch shifts to go to a wedding in January
6. Holley stills loves me (I hope)
7. Working every day means enough money to pay the bills
8. Having a precious baby as the result of being tired

Noises in the Night

So last night I crawled into bed at 8:20 to get a good nights rest. I talked to Doug for a little while and then just as I was about to go to sleep there were loud voices outside our window and then banging on our window! Mom and Jeny got in from MD. After spending an hour visiting with them I made my second attempt to go to bed. Right as I laid my head on my pillow I heard a loud scraping/scratching sound. What in the world?!!! There is a closed up fireplace right behind our bed so naturally I assumed there were mice back there. I went into the kitchen to tell all of my woes. Jon told me he was sure that it was a chipmunk for he had seen them crawling into the chimney. Great! We banged on the walls for awhile to no avail. Resigning myself to a night full of scratchy sounds from mini claws I laid back down. Just as I did the family members that did not have to work today started a movie in the living room.... next door to my uninsulated room where the door does not close. Then, to top things off, Doug put on his headphones so that he could listen to music while he studied. Scratch scratch... music... dialogue...scratch scratch... music... dialogue.............
